Many questions get asked by visitors to our church, those new in town, and friends and neighbours. Here’s a list of questions that may help you get to know Alliston Christian Reformed Church better. If you don’t find an answer here, feel free to email the church at allistoncrc@bellnet.ca

  • Do you have programs for children on Sunday morning? We welcome families to Alliston and have a fully equipped nursery area for children ages 0-3. Older children are welcomed into the Sanctuary for the beginning of the church service, and then children ages 3 through Grade 3 are dismissed for a special Children’s Church time.
  • Is there time on Sundays to meet with others at the church? We enjoy a wonderful time of fellowship every Sunday morning following our church service. Everyone in attendance is invited to have a cup of coffee or juice.
  • Do you have to dress up to attend your worship service? No. Dressing up is not a requirement to worship with us at Alliston. Many do wear their “Sunday best” but you’re also likely to find others in slacks and a casual shirt, or even jeans.
  • Is the Church accessible for people with walkers, crutches, or wheelchairs? Yes. The accessibility entrance is at the front east side of the church with a ramp entrance.
  • Is Alliston affiliated with a denomination? Yes. We are part of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA). The CRCNA is a biblically based, growing denomination spanning North America. You can find out more about the denomination by checking out www.crcna.org. You should know that the best way to learn about Alliston is in person. Why not come and check us out! And the best way to come to know God is in relationships, as we worship, serve, and grow together.
  • Will I have to say anything, sign anything, give anything, or be singled out in any way? Short answer: No! Our aim at Alliston is to create a non-threatening environment where everyone can come and find out more about God.
  • Who goes to your church? Our congregation spans all ages. You’ll find just about every type of person here – married, single, divorced, widowed, workers, retired, life-long Alliston residents and those who have just recently moved to the area. But even more important than the kind of people who go here are the kind of people who are welcome here – everyone!
  • Do I have to belong to your denomination to attend? Not at all!
  • What kind of things do you do in your worship service? We strive to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere at Alliston Christian Reformed Church. To begin, we share announcements and church news; we sing contemporary and traditional songs throughout the worship service; we share the congregation’s joys and concerns and lift them to God in prayer; we read the Bible and talk about it through the sermon; we collect an offering to further God’s work; and we take communion 5-6 times a year.
  • Can a visitor take communion (Lord’s Supper)? Yes! We take communion as a reminder of God’s gift to us in Jesus Christ. We believe in open communion – that means that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is welcome to take communion, whether they are a church member or not.
