Thanksgiving

You may or may not have noticed, but there is NO Monday Thanksgiving Day service this year.

This is partly practical. Kristin is away to shoot a wedding in Iceland this weekend (sounds exotic, but it is cold and very rainy there right now). Balancing home and work with an extra service would have been a real challenge for me personally. But, I also see this as a real opportunity for all of us!

I encourage you to use this time wisely and purposefully. Here are three suggestions:

  1. We have been talking about evangelism lately. This includes our non-church neighbours, as well as our own community. This creates a chance for you to visit a neighbour or friend Monday morning; spend time with someone, or invite someone over for a meal.
  2. It also creates some more quality time for you and your family, which is at a premium for many of us, these days!
  3. Or maybe, take some quite time for you and God, to reflect on the Blessings in your life; pray about the challenges you face, or discover God in the beautiful changing landscapes as you go on a hike!

Use this opportunity…Savour it! Decide how you and/or your family are going to spend this precious day, but whatever you do, do it to the glory of God! Have a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving.
